SelormJay DJs at ELEVATE

For the second Friday of this year’s ELEVATE public arts festival, in partnership with France-Atlanta, Villa Albertine resident and Ghanaian cultural producer SelormJay will DJ during ELEVATE’s « Take it to the Bridge » event.

During “Take it to the Bridge,” on Friday, September 27 from 5-8pm, Selorm will play a DJ set highlighting Ghanaian hip-hop. Explore the Steele Bridge Art Installation featuring 35 fine art reproductions from Atlanta’s permanent collection. This exhibition serves as a visual celebration of the city’s rich artistic heritage, showcasing works displayed in public spaces throughout the city. The event will also include voter registration from the Coalition for the People Agenda, with participation from Rock the Vote and artists from around the city.

SelormJay (Selorm Attikpo) is an Accra based self-taught filmmaker, Photographer, DJ and cultural producer passionate about hip hop culture. Over the years, he has built a personal archive of close to 10,000 files related to hip hop in Ghana. Selorm is the founder and creative director of yoyo tinz – a multimedia platform created in 2013 dedicated to archiving, documenting and amplifying Ghanaian hip hop culture. He created the first ever Ghanian hip hop festival in 2018. He enjoys traveling the World to document hip hop artists. He is currently a resident of Villa Albertine Atlanta, researching how to create the first-ever museum and archive on Ghanaian hip-hop. Learn more about his residency project.
