Anne Pauly & Selorm Attikpo in Artist Talk at Atlanta Contemporary
Join Villa Albertine Atlanta and Atlanta Contemporary as we kick off the Villa’s fall 2024 season of residencies with this event featuring author Anne Pauly and cultural producer Selorm Attikpo! Each of the artists will DJ a listening session, followed by a short conversation with Floyd Hall, Executive Director of Atlanta Contemporary.
During the event, DJs Anne Pauly and Selorm Attikpo will each host a listening session highlighting their journeys and research. Author and DJ Anne Pauly (aka Madame Monsieur) is currently in the middle of a road-trip across the South to explore the literary world of the southern Appalachias and will present a mix of classic French songs, house, music from Appalachia, and more! Cultural producer and DJ Selorm Attikpo (aka SelormJay), who is in Atlanta to explore the creation of Ghana’s first hip-hop museum, will take us on a deep dive into the vibrant world of Ghanaian hip-hop. Each listening session will be followed by a short conversation with Atlanta Contemporary director Floyd Hall to help us gain insight into how the music is related to their residency projects with Villa Albertine.

This event is in partnership with Atlanta Contemporary, as part of their Villa Albertine Artist Talk series. It will take place within the Gallery 3, and it free to attend. Registration link coming soon!

About the Residents
Anne Pauly is a writer working and living in Paris. Her first book, Avant que j’oublie (Éditions Verdier, 2019), is a tragi-comic story of mourning death and “vengeful social mobility.” It was awarded the 2020 Prix du Livre Inter and Prix Robert Walser after shortlisting for the Prix Femina, Prix Wepler, and Prix Goncourt. Anne Pauly is also involved in the queer and feminist movements in France, working with authors such as Virginie Despentes and Paul B. Preciado. She was the artistic director of Loud and Proud from 2015 to 2019, a queer, feminist and intersectional festival in Paris that questions the representation and visibility of women and sexual minorities in culture. She is also a DJ.
Selorm Attikpo also known as SelormJay is an Accra based self-taught filmmaker, Photographer, DJ and cultural producer passionate about hip hop culture. Over the years, he has built a personal archive of close to 10,000 files related to hip hop in Ghana. Selorm is the founder and creative director of yoyo tinz – a multimedia platform created in 2013 dedicated to archiving, documenting and amplifying Ghanaian hip hop culture. He created the first ever Ghanian hip hop festival in 2018. He enjoys traveling the World to document hip hop artists.
