From July 3 to 24, the inaugural Lafayette Fellows Leadership Program brought together 30 exceptional American students<\/strong> for an immersive three-week journey<\/strong> across France. Combining leadership development, academic exchange, scientific visits, cultural exploration, and meetings with some of France\u2019s foremost leaders, the program offered Fellows an unparalleled opportunity to deepen their understanding of French society while strengthening the transatlantic relationship.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the program, Fellows engaged with leading voices from government, academia, business, science, and the arts. Highlights included a masterclass<\/strong> on leadership in times of crisis with Hubert Joly<\/strong>, discussions on artificial intelligence with Anne Bouverot<\/strong> and Antoine de Braquilanges<\/strong>, climate change with Val\u00e9rie Masson-Delmotte<\/strong>, entrepreneurship at Station F<\/strong>, and urban transformation through the Greater Paris Project<\/strong>. The cohort also explored French scientific excellence on the Saclay Plateau<\/strong> and reflected on Europe\u2019s evolving role on the global stage.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the classroom, the Fellows experienced France\u2019s rich cultural heritage through visits to iconic landmarks<\/strong>, including the Palace of Versailles, the Louvre Museum, the Fondation Cartier, the Ch\u00e2teau de Vaux-le-Vicomte, and the Museum of the History of Immigration. They were welcomed at prestigious institutions<\/strong> such as the National Assembly by its President, Ya\u00ebl Braun-Pivet and attended the Bastille Day military parade at the invitation of the President of the French Republic.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program also extended\u00a0beyond Paris,\u00a0taking Fellows to Avignon, Arles, and Marseille<\/strong>. They met with\u00a0Tiago Rodrigues<\/strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0Festival\u00a0d\u2019Avignon<\/strong>, discovered contemporary photography at the Rencontres\u00a0d\u2019Arles<\/strong>, visited the LUMA Foundation<\/strong>,\u00a0La\u00a0Friche\u00a0la Belle de Mai<\/strong>,\u00a0CMA CGM\u2019s TANGRAM Center<\/strong>, including its headquarters, solidarity warehouse (L’Entrep\u00f4t Solidaire), and training center, and the MUCEM<\/strong>,\u00a0and concluded with discussions on ocean science at Aix-Marseille University before a closing celebration in Marseille.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Complementing these experiences, regular French language courses <\/strong>at the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise de Paris, and independent cultural visits encouraged Fellows to immerse themselves fully in French life.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the inaugural Lafayette Fellowship, Fellows will soon begin their master\u2019s studies at one of the program\u2019s 15 partner universities in France.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
