{"id":6671228,"date":"2025-11-20T13:30:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T13:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/va\/?p=6671228"},"modified":"2025-11-21T20:28:53","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T20:28:53","slug":"new-multi-year-agreement-signed-between-getty-french-consulate-in-los-angeles-and-villa-albertine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/va\/press-release\/new-multi-year-agreement-signed-between-getty-french-consulate-in-los-angeles-and-villa-albertine\/","title":{"rendered":"New, Multi-Year Agreement Signed Between Getty, French Consulate in Los Angeles and Villa Albertine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Los Angeles, November 20, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Getty, the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles, and Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education, have renewed a cooperation agreement to cross-promote exhibitions and programming related to French culture for the next three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Building on the history of successful community engagement between Getty, the French Consulate, and Villa Albertine, the agreement will extend the commitment of promoting Getty activities related to French culture and encourage opportunities for greater exchange and cooperation between the three institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement includes joint promotion of upcoming French-themed exhibitions at the Getty Center, including <em>Odilon Redon<\/em> and the Polynesian origins of <em>Portrait of Mai<\/em> by Joshua Reynolds in Summer 2026, as well as <em>Eugene Atget\u2019s Legacy<\/em> in Fall 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to continue to work with the French Consulate in Los Angeles and Villa Albertine to bring French culture to our visitors at Getty,\u201d says <strong>Katherine E. Fleming<\/strong>, president and CEO of J. Paul Getty Trust. \u201cIt is a priority for us to introduce audiences in Los Angeles to new perspectives and cross-cultural dialogue with all of our programming, and we look forward to deepening this collaboration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement follows on the success of promoting exhibitions such as <em>La Surprise: Watteau in Los Angeles<\/em>, <em>Camille Claudel<\/em>, <em>A Persistent Pioneer: Hippolyte Bayard<\/em>, and <em>Gustave Caillebotte: Painting Men<\/em> at the Getty Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis agreement signed between Villa Albertine, Getty and the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles aligns the efforts of our three organizations to render French culture and creation increasingly accessible in the United States,\u201d says <strong>Mohamed Bouabdallah<\/strong>, Cultural Counselor of France in the United States and Director of Villa Albertine. \u201cWe look forward to launching collaborative programs rich in meaning, relevance, and impact.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getty will also collaborate with the French Consulate and Villa Albertine to facilitate exchange and access to resources and curatorial and conservation experts across Getty for visiting scholars, artists, and museum professionals, including their next generation curatorial cohort, \u201cFrench Museums Next Gen,\u201d in Spring 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am truly honored that we get to formally renew our cooperation and celebrate our shared passion for artwork and culture from France,\u201d says <strong>Adrien Frier<\/strong>, Consul General of France in Los Angeles. \u201cGetty is the most unique and prestigious cultural institution in Los Angeles, with a second-to-none collection of carefully curated artwork.
