He\u00a0will\u00a0continue to\u00a0work\u00a0with\u00a0this\u00a0dynamic\u00a0group on a new\u00a0project,\u00a0titled\u00a0&#8220;Paris &lt;-&gt; New York Jazz Project,&#8221; aiming to record\u00a0another\u00a0collaboration album.\u00a0When\u00a0the album\u00a0is\u00a0finished, Pannier\u00a0wishes\u00a0to\u00a0present\u00a0his\u00a0music in the US and in France. This\u00a0project\u00a0has\u00a0received\u00a0a\u00a0creative\u00a0grant\u00a0as part of FACE Foundation&#8217;s 2020 Jazz &amp; New Music program, in collaboration\u00a0with\u00a0the Cultural Services of the French\u00a0Embassy\u00a0in the US.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>About Drummer and Composer Rapha\u00ebl\u00a0Pannier<\/strong>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Rapha\u00ebl\u00a0Pannier\u00a0has been\u00a0passionate\u00a0about drums\u00a0since\u00a0the\u00a0age\u00a0of five and has been\u00a0performing\u00a0on stage\u00a0since\u00a0the\u00a0age\u00a0of 13. In 2008,\u00a0destiny\u00a0called\u00a0him\u00a0when\u00a0he\u00a0was\u00a0awarded\u00a0a\u00a0scholarship\u00a0to\u00a0Berklee\u00a0College\u00a0of Music in Boston. There,\u00a0he\u00a0studied\u00a0with\u00a0Terri Lyne Carrington, Ralph Peterson Jr, and Hal\u00a0Crook, among\u00a0others, and met\u00a0 Azerbaijani\u00a0pianist\u00a0Emil\u00a0Afrasiyab.\u00a0With Afrasiyab,\u00a0he\u00a0began\u00a0his\u00a0first tour, which lasted from from\u00a02013 and 2015,\u00a0playing\u00a0music\u00a0that\u00a0fuses jazz and &#8220;Mugham,&#8221; the\u00a0traditional\u00a0music of\u00a0Azerbaijan. In 2014, Rapha\u00ebl\u00a0Pannier\u00a0flew\u00a0to New York, where\u00a0he\u00a0won a\u00a0scholarship\u00a0to attend the\u00a0Master&#8217;s\u00a0program at the Manhattan\u00a0School\u00a0of Music. He\u00a0was\u00a0then\u00a0selected\u00a0for the &#8220;Betty Carter Jazz\u00a0Ahead&#8221;\u00a0competition, stage\u00a0organized\u00a0for jazz\u00a0composers\u00a0at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and won first\u00a0prize\u00a0in the\u00a0biennial\u00a0international\u00a0competition\u00a0&#8220;Six Strings Theory,&#8221;\u00a0organized\u00a0by legendary\u00a0guitarist\u00a0Lee\u00a0Ritenour, with\u00a0whom\u00a0he\u00a0performed\u00a0in the US and gave a concert at the Blue Note in Tokyo. The\u00a0beginning\u00a0of\u00a0his\u00a0career\u00a0has been indicative of\u00a0his\u00a0success, as\u00a0he\u00a0continues to\u00a0play\u00a0with\u00a0famous\u00a0artists\u00a0such\u00a0as Steve Wilson, Bob James, Manuel Valera, and more, and\u00a0will\u00a0perform\u00a0on\u00a0many\u00a0international stages in the US, Brazil, Canada,\u00a0Azerbaijan,\u00a0Estonia,\u00a0Serbia, Spain, and France. He has\u00a0recorded\u00a0several\u00a0albums as an accompanist, and decided to give his imagination free rein in 2019\u00a0when\u00a0he\u00a0recorded\u00a0his\u00a0first album, <em>Faune<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>From\u00a0<em>Faune<\/em>\u00a0to an Ambitious New Album\u00a0<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>An album\u00a0that\u00a0takes\u00a0its\u00a0inspiration\u00a0from\u00a0French\u00a0modernism,\u00a0<em>Faune<\/em>\u00a0opens\u00a0our\u00a0eyes\u00a0to a unique\u00a0universe\u00a0at the nexus of American jazz culture and French\u00a0classical\u00a0works.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Throughout\u00a0Faune,\u00a0Pannier\u00a0plays\u00a0to\u00a0his\u00a0strengths\u00a0as an imaginative\u00a0colorist\u00a0and a master of textures\u00a0whose\u00a0light\u00a0touch\u00a0on the\u00a0drum\u00a0kit\u00a0brings\u00a0to\u00a0mind\u00a0the\u00a0delicate\u00a0brushstrokes\u00a0of an\u00a0impressionistic\u00a0painter.&#8221; -Downbeat.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>With\u00a0MacArthur\u00a0fellow\u00a0and alto\u00a0saxophonist\u00a0star Miguel\u00a0Zen\u00f3n\u00a0as\u00a0his\u00a0mentor, Rapha\u00ebl\u00a0Pannier\u00a0makes the most of his\u00a0talent and demonstrates his\u00a0 willingness\u00a0to\u00a0bring\u00a0two\u00a0different\u00a0cultures and musical\u00a0periods\u00a0into\u00a0dialogue. The nine paragraphs\u00a0will\u00a0be\u00a0the\u00a0literary\u00a0source for the composition and improvisation of nine songs\u00a0by the jazz quartet, which\u00a0will\u00a0then\u00a0be\u00a0transformed\u00a0with\u00a0touches of\u00a0electronic\u00a0music.
