As the program enters its second season, Albertine Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que provides extensive resources to its members, including a list of films handpicked by its committee for on-campus events; a semi-annual virtual film series for in-class discussions; and many opportunities to bring filmmakers into the conversation with students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Albertine Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que’s Festival Grants offers $2,400 to grantees, who are selected by a committee of university faculty, to host French film festivals on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Festival Grants<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Albertine Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que is thrilled to announce its Film Selection<\/a><\/strong> for 2024 – 2025 showcasing the best of French cinema in the United States! This year\u2019s selection includes two films by former Villa Albertine residents, Four Daughters<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by Kaouther Ben Hania<\/strong><\/a> and Our Body<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by Claire Simon<\/strong><\/a>, as well as Palme d\u2019Or and Academy Awards winner, Anatomy of a Fall<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by Justine Triet, and France\u2019s official entry for the 2024 Academy Awards, The Taste of Things<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by Tr\u1ea7n Anh H\u00f9ng. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Film Selection<\/a><\/strong> is composed of three distinctive parts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014 CONTEMPORARY FILMS
\u2014 ALTERNATIVE LIST
\u2014 CLASSIC FILMS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With 23 contemporary films, six classic films, six documentary films, and two animated features, this new selection highlights the dynamism, diversity, and high quality of French films and productions, and celebrates films by established filmmakers such as The Night of the 12<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by Dominik Moll and The Beast<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by Bertrand Bonello, along with works by exciting newcomers like Banel & Adama<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by Ramata-Toulaye Sy and Coconut Head Generation<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by Alain Kassanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In honor of Jean-Luc Godard, the great pioneer of the French New Wave, we are offering a bundle, including the fascinating documentary, Godard Cinema<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by Cyril Leuth, and Godard\u2019s final work, a preparatory essay-trailer for his last project before he passed away in 2022, Trailer of a film that will never exist: Phony Wars<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our classic selection features restorations of some of the most important French films, including this year, Contempt<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Jean-Luc Godard and No Fear, No Die<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Claire Denis, as well as films that are more rarely available such as Lumumba: Death of a Prophet<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Raoul Peck and Messidor<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Alain Tanner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
