{"id":8891554,"date":"2026-05-13T15:51:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T15:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/va\/?post_type=app_event&#038;p=8891554"},"modified":"2026-05-13T16:01:27","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T16:01:27","slug":"aina-alegre-in-residency-at-bard-college","status":"publish","type":"app_event","link":"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/va\/events\/aina-alegre-in-residency-at-bard-college\/","title":{"rendered":"Aina Alegre in Residency at Bard College"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Aina Alegre<\/strong> is invited to Bard College for a week of creative residency and research for her new project, <em>RODA<\/em>, from May 11 &#8211; 16, 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>RODA <\/em>Upstate New York<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Aina Alegre is a multidisciplinary artist trained in dance, theater, and music in&nbsp;Barcelona,&nbsp;and&nbsp;co-director of the&nbsp;Centre&nbsp;Chor\u00e9graphique&nbsp;National de Grenoble&nbsp;since 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She\u00a0sees choreographic creation as a way of\u00a0opening up\u00a0imaginary\u00a0worlds around the body. Through dance she explores\u00a0different\u00a0relationships\u00a0with\u00a0the collective body, and her choreographic\u00a0work is conceived as an \u2018orchestration\u2019 of movement, sound,\u00a0light, and space. For several years, her writing\u00a0has been\u00a0as much\u00a0choreographic\u00a0as it is musical. Through her creations, Aina\u00a0Algre\u00a0also\u00a0conducts research into the\u00a0notions of memory and archive\u00a0that\u00a0run through all her work.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her new&nbsp;work,&nbsp;<em>RODA,&nbsp;<\/em>is another&nbsp;attempt to experience, through dance and music, an ephemeral community. Coming from the Latin&nbsp;<em>rotare<\/em>, \u201cto move in a circle\u201d,&nbsp;<em>RODA&nbsp;<\/em>is a choreography based on walking, jumping, and turning to trigger multiple loops. Swing, rhythm, weight, and counterweight will be the tools for a \u2018choeretic\u2019 composition of unisons, canons, and variations, whose persistence will allow for the experience of repetition to lead the bodies to a state of ecstasy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Celebrating a Four-Year Long Partnership with Bard College<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For the past four years,&nbsp;Villa Albertine&nbsp;has been&nbsp;proud to&nbsp;partner with&nbsp;the Bard Dance Program, led by the wonderful Tara Lorenzen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through a\u00a0dual framework of both teaching residencies every semester,\u00a0and creative residencies,\u00a0each Spring semester,\u00a0students\u00a0were\u00a0immersed in French creative practices throughout their studies, enriching their training with new technical as well as stylistic approaches.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the teaching residencies&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>Marcella Santander <\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>Volmir&nbsp;Cordeiro<\/strong>&nbsp;(Fall 2023),&nbsp;<strong>Walter&nbsp;Dundervill&nbsp;<\/strong>and <strong>DD Dorvillier&nbsp;<\/strong>(Spring 2024),&nbsp;<strong>Wanjiru&nbsp;Kamuyu&nbsp;<\/strong>and <strong>Georgey&nbsp;Souchette&nbsp;<\/strong>(Fall 2024),&nbsp;<strong>No\u00e9mie De Almeida Ferreira&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>Yuval Pick<\/strong>&nbsp;(Spring 2025), and the creative residencies of&nbsp;<strong>Marcella Santander&nbsp;<\/strong>for&nbsp;<em>Agwas<\/em><strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>(Spring 2024)&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Ashley Chen&nbsp;<\/strong>for&nbsp;<em>La&nbsp;Croissance&nbsp;Exponentielle&nbsp;des Petites&nbsp;Erreurs&nbsp;<\/em>(Spring 2025), <strong>Aina Alegre<\/strong> is the&nbsp;final artist in&nbsp;the residency program between Villa Albertine and Bard College.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>An open studio at the LUMA Theater<\/strong><\/em>, <strong style=\"\"><i>Fisher Center, will be held on Thursday, May 14, at 5pm.&nbsp;<\/i><\/strong><strong><em>F<\/em><i>ree and open to the Bard community<\/i>.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":8891648,"menu_order":0,"template":"","app_discipline":[524,227],"app_city_tax":[217],"app_event_type":[634],"class_list":["post-8891554","app_event","type-app_event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","app_discipline-dance","app_discipline-performing-arts","app_city_tax-nyc","app_event_type-performing-arts"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.5 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Aina Alegre in Residency at Bard College - Villa Albertine<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Euphrate by Nil Bosca embarks on its U.S. tour this May.
