Gabriel Dupont, whose life was cut short by illness at just 36, showed immense promise in his musical career. A contemporary of Ravel and winner of the Second Prix de Rome in 1901, ahead of Ravel, he soon gained recognition for his opera\u00a0<em>La Cabrera<\/em>. He left behind two major piano works :\u00a0<em>Les Heures dolentes\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>La Maison dans les dunes<\/em>,\u00a0which have been unjustly forgotten. These poetic suites reflect his personal struggles with illness and his poignant response to nature. The programmatic aspect of his work is evident in the titles of each of the ten pieces of\u00a0<em>La Maison dans les dunes<\/em>, which mirrors the composer\u2019s reflections on the sea and his own internal emotional experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The recital will also include Baldassare Galuppi\u2019s elegant Sonata in C major, &#8220;Isolde&#8217;s Tod&#8221; by Wagner, arranged by Moszkowsky, and the charming &#8220;Ronde Champ\u00eatre&#8221; by Chabrier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>La Maison Dans Les Dunes<\/em> Lineup:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans les dunes par un clair matin \/ In the dunes on a clear morning<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voiles sur l\u2019eau \/ Sails on the water<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La maison du souvenir \/ The house of memory<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mon fr\u00e8re le Vent et ma S\u0153ur la Pluie \/ My brother the Wind and my sister the Rain<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e9lancolie du bonheur \/ Melancholy of happiness<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le soleil se joue dans les vagues \/ The Sun plays in the waves<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le soir dans les pins \/ Evening in the pines<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le bruissement de la mer, la nuit \/ The rustling of the sea, the night<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clair d\u2019etoiles \/ Starlight<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Houls \/ Swells<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the Artist<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Known for her lyrical and colorful tone, pianist Ruti Abramovitch is a highly sought-after soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. Currently based in Washington DC, Ruti has lived in Chicago for over a decade, performing at some of the city\u2019s most notable concert halls such as Symphony Center, The Art Institute of Chicago, Preston-Bradley Hall at the Cultural Center, and Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston, IL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Security Rules<\/strong>: Each person attending the event must have a ticket registered in their name and a government-issued ID that matches the name on the reservation to enter the Embassy. No one will be admitted without a reservation and official ID. Due to strict security measures, please arrive on time, as doors will be closed at 7:30 pm sharp. Please allow for extra time for security screenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event is organized by the Institut Fran\u00e7ais USA &#8211; Villa Albertine and the Resources USA Foundation.
