First, the <strong>9th edition of Animation First<\/strong>, the largest animation festival in the United States, will present six feature-length films and eight short film programs. This year\u2019s edition places a special focus on Belgian animation, showcasing both timeless classics and bold new works.<br><br>At the same time, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/va\/events\/french-films-at-the-2026-new-york-intl-childrens-film-festival\/\">New York International Children\u2019s Film Festival (NYICFF) 2026<\/a><\/strong> returns from February 28 to March 16 with a vibrant program dedicated to young audiences aged 3 to 18. The festival will feature world and North American premieres, as well as French international short films, such as <em>My Life in Versailles<\/em> and <em>Sketches on Ice<\/em>.<br><br>Other festivals have also unveiled their lineups, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.filmlinc.org\/festivals\/rendez-vous-with-french-cinema\/\"><strong>Rendez-Vous with French Cinema<\/strong><\/a>, which will present a bold and ambitious selection of French films starting March 5 at Lincoln Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>February also marks the final stretch toward the Oscars! While France is likely to take home a statuette on March 15 through its co-productions represented across the Best International Feature Film selections, French productions continue to light up New York screens. Among them, <em>Arco<\/em> and <em>Butterfly<\/em> will be screened in the presence of their directors on February 7 at L&#8217;Alliance New York. We also highlight <em>The Voice of Hind Rajab<\/em>, directed by former Villa Albertine resident Kaouther Ben Hania, which continues its run at Film Forum. The film depicts an adventure between a father and his son, in a world where some humans have started mutating into other animal species.<\/li>\n<li>On February 25, Maison Fran\u00e7aise will host <i>Le Tableau Vol\u00e9. <\/i>Andr\u00e9 Masson, an auctioneer at Scottie\u2019s, receives a letter from a lawyer claiming that a common worker in the suburbs of Mulhouse owns a painting by Egon Schiele. Andr\u00e9\u2019s first reaction is to believe that it can only be a fake. He decides to make the trip to Mulhouse anyway and against all odds, the painting turns out to be a masterpiece gone missing in 1939.
