Created by Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Alcol\u00e9a and praised by the Great-Great-Granddaughter of legendary filmmaker and cinematographer Georges M\u00e9li\u00e8s, Right in the Eye<\/em> features a captivating, multi-layered score performed by three virtuoso musicians, offering an amazing emotional voyage. Using an extraordinary range of instruments\u2014including piano, percussion, guitar, and unique oddities like the aquaphone, theremin, and even plastic take-out lids\u2014the musicians bring new life to M\u00e9li\u00e8s’ films. About Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Alcol\u00e9a<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Alcol\u00e9a has a musical and instrumental degree from the National Conservatoire in Poitiers \u2013 piano, chamber music, composition, jazz music, vocal music. During his studies, he develops an interest for improvised music and follows workshops with Yves Robert, Fran\u00e7ois Raulin and Jean-Pierre Peuvion. He meets Christian Ivaldi, a concert pianist, Philippe Capdenat, a composer and Paul-Andr\u00e9 Gaye, a concert performer and a piano teacher with whom he goes deeper into his training in Paris. Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Alcol\u00e9a is a pianist, a composer, an improviser and a stage designer. His shows reflect his plural worlds, combining music, sound effects, lights, stills and animations, street arts, dance, texts, and visual creations. \u201cJean-Fran\u00e7ois Alcol\u00e9a is one of the all too rare musicians who leave an indelible mark in our minds thanks to their talents, of course, but also because of their charisma and sweet madness\u2026 one of those who restores integrity to creative work\u201d. \u2013 La Nouvelle R\u00e9publique (French Newspaper).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has presented his shows to renowned events and venues such as the International Zaragoza Exhibition in Spain, The French Consulate & French Embassy or the European Heritage Days. Since 2000, Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Alcol\u00e9a creates and presents his own productions with the collaboration of high-skilled artists and technicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having an interest in history, ethnology, and sociology, Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Alcol\u00e9a prompts it to focus on bygone memories, location showcasing, and in-situ research to produce unique, original shows, event scenographies, and walk-through experiences linked to a location, a theme, or a special event. He acts as a pioneer, revealing himself in 2005-2006 with his creation Allons enfants\u2026, a show featuring the \u201cManu\u201d (former manufacture royale d\u2019armes in France) and spotlighting site enhancements and memories of the arms plant. Then, he has been inspired by the riverside Marina setting of Cognac, and assembled a collection of tributes by local inhabitants expressing affinity for their river. It went without saying that this reflects poetic evocation more closely than documentary. During the International Zaragoza Exhibition in Spain, he has created a musical video show that highlighted water and showcases the “Fluvial Aquarium,” symbolizing the rivers of the five continents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since Alcol\u00e9a created its own Company, he created 35 different productions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security Rules<\/strong>: Each person attending the event must have a ticket registered in their name and a government-issued ID that matches the name on the reservation to enter the Embassy. No one will be admitted without a reservation and official ID. Due to strict security measures, please arrive on time, as doors will be closed at 7:30 pm sharp. Please allow for extra time for security screenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For security reasons, large bags, umbrellas, backpacks, and bike helmets are not allowed on Embassy grounds. The security team may confiscate any items considered inappropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no on-site parking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
