{"id":6352504,"date":"2025-11-06T16:51:33","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T16:51:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/va\/?post_type=app_event&#038;p=6352504"},"modified":"2025-12-09T20:55:04","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T20:55:04","slug":"on-screen-this-november-film-tv-in-new-york","status":"publish","type":"app_event","link":"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/va\/events\/on-screen-this-november-film-tv-in-new-york\/","title":{"rendered":"On Screen This November: Film &amp; TV in New York"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Returning to New York from Wednesday, November 12 until Sunday, November 30, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.docnyc.net\/\">DOC NYC festival<\/a> will feature our 2025 Villa Albertine resident <a href=\"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/va\/residents\/sepideh-farsi\/\">Sepideh Farsi<\/a>&#8216;s latest film, <em>Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk<\/em> (also opening in theaters on November 5), as well as Yves Jeuland\u2019s groundbreaking documentary <em>How Volodymyr Became Zelensky<\/em>, co-written by acclaimed journalist Ariane Chemin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year&#8217;s lineup includes 10 French films and co-productions, such as <em>I, Poppy<\/em>, Always, <em>Aurora<\/em>, <em>Lost for Word<\/em>, <em>Orwell:2+2=5<\/em>, <em>Imago<\/em>, <em>TCB : The Toni Cade Bambara School of Organizing<\/em>, and <em>Unanimal<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also returning to New York this month is the International Emmy Awards, featuring programs from a record 26 countries this year.  French productions nominated this year, include <em>DJ Mehdi: Made In France<\/em> (Arts Programming), <em>Iris<\/em> (Comedy), <em>Philippines: Diving for Gold<\/em> (Current Affairs), and <em>King of Kings: Chasing Edward Jones<\/em> (Documentary). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other news, the long-shuttered Metro Theater on the Upper West Side is getting a new life \u2014 and a new name \u2014 as the Uptown Film Center, an arthouse cinema and cultural hub set to reopen in 2028.
