Led by Ren\u00e9e Fleming, one of the most acclaimed sopranos of our time, this masterclass will offer individualized coaching to each participant on an operatic aria. The session will focus on vocal technique, breath management, diction, and phrasing, while emphasizing expressive clarity and musical style. Participants will benefit from Ms. Fleming\u2019s vast international experience and her approach to combining technical control with emotional communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auditors will gain insight into the vocal preparation and interpretive refinement that define professional artistry at the highest level. The audience will attend the masterclass in an observational capacity, witnessing the instructor\u2019s direct work with the selected OFP artists on their arias. In the final 30 minutes of each session, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a brief Q&A with the instructor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ren\u00e9e Fleming is internationally celebrated for her vocal and dramatic artistry, as well as her dedicated advocacy for the powerful impact of the creative arts on health. Honored with five GRAMMY\u00ae awards and the US National Medal of Arts, she has sung not only in the world\u2019s leading opera houses and concert halls, but also for momentous occasions from the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony to the Super Bowl. In 2023, the World Health Organization appointed her as a Goodwill Ambassador for Arts and Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ren\u00e9e\u2019s anthology Music and Mind: Harnessing the Arts for Health and Wellnes<\/em>s was published in 2024. She created a live program called Music and Mind, which she has presented in more than 70 cities around the world. She is now an advisor for major initiatives in this field, including the NeuroArts Blueprint at Johns Hopkins University. In 2024, she launched the Ren\u00e9e Fleming NeuroArts Investigator Awards, funding interdisciplinary research projects by early career scientists in collaboration with creative artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her other honors include the Fulbright Lifetime Achievement Medal, Germany\u2019s Cross of the Order of Merit, France\u2019s Chevalier de la L\u00e9gion d\u2019Honneur, and honorary doctorates from 10 major universities.

The Opera for Peace & The Denyce Graves Foundation Academy<\/strong> is a landmark program created by Opera for Peace in partnership with the Denyce Graves Foundation. Building on the success of previous Academies in Rome and Paris since 2022, it brings together exceptional emerging talents, opera luminaries, and visionary cultural leaders for an immersive experience in artistic excellence, mentorship, and peacebuilding through the arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No one will be admitted without a reservation and official ID. Due to strict security measures, please arrive on time, as doors will be closed at 7:30 pm sharp. Please allow for extra time for security screenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For security reasons, large bags, umbrellas, backpacks, and bike helmets are not allowed on Embassy grounds. The security team may confiscate any items considered inappropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
