Watch Us Dance\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>recounts the rebellions within an interracial family that play out against the countercultural rebellions of the 1960s in this sexy, stylish, sophisticated new novel by the award-winning, internationally bestselling author of\u00a0The Perfect Nanny<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0In the Country of Others<\/em>. Le\u00efla Slimani draws on her family\u2019s inspiring story to deliver a tense, provocative, page-turning novel about one family\u2019s, and one country\u2019s, coming of age in the face of the seductions of power and privilege.<\/p>\n

Le\u00efla Slimani\u00a0<\/strong>is the bestselling author of The Perfect Nanny<\/em>, one of The New York Times Book Review\u2019s 10 Best Books of 2018, for which she became the first Moroccan woman to win France\u2019s most prestigious literary prize, the Goncourt. Her other books include Ad\u00e8le<\/em>, Sex and Lies<\/em>, and the #1 international bestsellers In the Country of Others<\/em> and Watch Us Dance<\/em>, which are the first and second parts of a trilogy of novels based on her family\u2019s roots in revolutionary Morocco. Le\u00efla Slimani was selected by President Emmanuel Macron to be a personal representative for the promotion of the French language and culture, and is the chair of the jury for the 2023 International Booker Prize. She was ranked #2 on Vanity Fair France\u2019s annual list of the Fifty Most Influential French People in the World. Born in Rabat, Morocco, in 1981, she divides her time between France and Portugal.<\/p>\n\n

Sam Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0is a novelist and literary translator. In addition to the works of Le\u00efla Slimani, he has translated more than sixty books from French, including Laurent Binet\u2019s HHhH<\/em>, Proust\u2019s The Seventy-Five Folios<\/em>, and Maylis de Kerangal\u2019s The Heart<\/em>, which won the French-American Translation Prize and the Lewis Galanti\u00e8re Prize. Born in Nottinghamshire, England, Sam was a writer and editor at The Observer for eight years before spending a decade in France, where he wrote four novels. His fifth novel, The Two Loves<\/em> of Sophie Strom<\/em>, will be published next year.<\/p>\n\n

Parul Sehgal<\/strong>\u00a0is a staff writer at The New Yorker. Previously, she was a book critic at the New York Times, where she also worked as a senior editor and columnist. She has won awards from the Robert B. Silvers Foundation, the New York Press Club, and the National Book Critics Circle for her criticism.
