Let\u2019s call it a dance. Why\u00a0struggle for coherence, when illegibility is the only political recourse\u00a0that remains?\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0Miguel Gutierrez<\/p>\n\n<p>Miguel Gutierrez lives in Brooklyn, NY, where he has been making\u00a0performances, music, and poetry for over twenty years. He has been\u00a0called \u201cone of our most provocative and necessary artistic voices\u201d by\u00a0Eva Yaa Asantewaa at Dance Magazine.\u00a0His recent work includes a\u00a0trilogy called Age &amp; Beauty, which places a queer lens on mortality,\u00a0the representation of the dancer, the intersection of administration\u00a0with art-making, and futurity. His work is characterized by the immersive\u00a0quality of the attentive state it imposes on the audience, and centers\u00a0around enduring philosophical questions about desire, longing, and\u00a0the search for meaning.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n\t<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n\t\t<iframe loading=\"lazy\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/270888465?h=38b0a7576f\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\r\n\t<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong>For Four Walls, choreographed by Petter Jacobsson and Thomas Caley<\/strong><br \/>\nThe new work<em> For Four Walls\u00a0<\/em>draws upon\u00a0<em>Four Walls<\/em>, the first collaboration between Merce Cunningham and John Cage. Rather than recreating the original 1944 piece, they have used the score for piano and voice as the driving force behind this free interpretation. Performed live by the pianist <strong>Vanessa Wagner<\/strong>, the melancholic atmosphere of John Cage\u2019s music hovers over the interplay between the mirrored room and movements.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>The choreographers and dancers Petter Jacobsson and\u00a0Thomas Caley, started collaborating in the nineteen nineties,\u00a0choreographing works for Martha@Mother, the Joyce Soho\u00a0in New York and the opera Staden for the Royal Opera House\u00a0in Stockholm, a commission for the 1998 Cultural capital of\u00a0Europe.\u00a0In 2005, they started their own company\u00a0creating works entitled Nightlife, Untitled partner, Flux, No\u00a0mans land &#8211; no lands man and The nearest nearness.\u00a0<br \/>\nAs of 2011, Petter is the Artistic Director and Thomas is the Coordinator of Research\u00a0for the Centre Chor\u00e9graphique National (CCN) &#8211; Ballet de Lorraine,\u00a0Nancy. They both work as choreographers as well.
