Donations will be gratefully accepted to benefit future events, either in person or in advance at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.st-andrew.org\/concerts\">www.st-andrew.org\/concerts<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the St. Andrew the Apostle Concert Series and this event, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.st-andrew.org\/concerts\">www.st-andrew.org\/concerts<\/a>, or call\u00a0<a>703-817-1770<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Artist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel Duperrey was born in France in 1972.\u202fHe entered the organ class of Marie-Louise Langlais at the Conservatoire National de R\u00e9gion de Paris in 1990, and received the Gold Medal in 1994.\u202fThat same year, he also earned the Dipl\u00f4me de Virtuosit\u00e9 from the Schola Cantorum in Paris (studio of Marie-Louise Langlais) as well as the Dipl\u00f4me de Virtuosit\u00e9 at the Marcel Dupr\u00e9 Competition in Chartres.\u202fFurther study with Michelle Leclerc at the Conservatoire de Valenciennes earned him the Dipl\u00f4me de Perfectionnement in 1995.\u202fWinner of the First Prize of the UFAM, he\u202fstudied harmony and improvisation with Fran\u00e7oise Lev\u00e9chin at the Schola Cantorum, and from 1997\u202fto 1999\u202fdid further study with Eric Lebrun at the Conservatoire National de R\u00e9gion de Saint-Maur. Concurrent with his post as Organist at Notre Dame de l\u2019Esp\u00e9rance in Villemonble, France, Mr. Duperrey performs recitals in France, Germany, England and the United States. He has created several organ transcriptions, including one of Paul Dukas\u2019 The Sorcerer\u2019s Apprentice, recorded on his CD entitled Histoire d\u2019orgue. Duperrey has also transcribed the Toccata on the 65th Psalm, improvised by Dutch organist Klaas Jan Mulder.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Organ<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The pipe organ is the chief liturgical instrument of the Church after the human voice and there is nearly a thousand years of organ repertoire to draw upon. It is a deeply symbolic instrument, consisting of a number of sounds that both subtly and powerfully blend together beckoning man\u2019s heart to God. The St. Andrew pipe organ was Installed in 2020 by the Peragallo Pipe Organ Company of Patterson, New Jersey. It was featured on the cover of the November 2020 issue of The American Organist. Dedicated to The Holy Archangels in 2021, this magnificent instrument is of French Romantic design with three manuals, 51 ranks and 2,891 pipes. There are three independent handcrafted cases of mahogany and each division is tonally very complete within itself.
