The National Gallery of Art\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The National Gallery of Art, founded as a gift to the nation, serves as a center of visual art, education, and culture. With collections of more than 150,000 paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, photographs, prints, and drawings spans the history of Western art and showcases some of the triumphs of human creativity. Across 363 days a year, the Gallery offers a full spectrum of special exhibitions and public programs free of charge.<\/p>\n\n

Mary Morton<\/strong>\u00a0received her PhD in the history of art and architecture in 1998 from Brown University. The former associate curator of paintings at the J. Paul Getty Museum (2004\u20132010) and associate curator of European art at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA), Houston (1998\u20132004), she joined the curatorial staff of the National Gallery of Art in 2010.<\/p>\n\n

For the National Gallery of Art, Morton has organized the following exhibitions:\u00a0C\u00e9zanne Portraits<\/em>\u00a0(2018),\u00a0Gustave Caillebotte: The Painter’s Eye<\/em>\u00a0(2015), and\u00a0Gauguin: Maker of Myth<\/em>\u00a0(2011).<\/p>\n\n

While at the Getty, she worked on\u00a0The Spectacular Art of Jean-L\u00e9on G\u00e9r\u00f4me<\/em>\u00a0(2010);\u00a0Sur le Motif: Painting in Nature around 1800<\/em>\u00a0(2008);\u00a0Oudry’s Painted Menagerie<\/em>\u00a0(2007); and\u00a0Courbet and the Modern Landscape<\/em>\u00a0(2006). While at the MFA, Houston, she organized\u00a0Focus on the Beck Collection: Andr\u00e9 Derain’s “The Turning Road, L’Estaque”<\/em>\u00a0(2002) and collaborated on\u00a0Paris in the Age of Impressionism: Masterworks from the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay<\/em>\u00a0(2002) and\u00a0Old Masters, Impressionists, and Moderns: French Masterworks from the State Pushkin Museum, Moscow<\/em>\u00a0(2002).<\/p>\n\n
