{"id":58957,"date":"2022-04-15T16:59:19","date_gmt":"2022-04-15T16:59:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/events\/selene-saint-aime-snug-harbor\/"},"modified":"2023-08-23T07:40:06","modified_gmt":"2023-08-23T07:40:06","slug":"selene-saint-aime-snug-harbor","status":"publish","type":"app_event","link":"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/va\/events\/selene-saint-aime-snug-harbor\/","title":{"rendered":"S\u00e9l\u00e8ne Saint-Aim\u00e9 at Snug Harbor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/residents\/selene-saint-aime\"><strong>S\u00e9l\u00e8ne Saint-Aim\u00e9<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0arrived in New Orleans on April 4 for a 3-month residency in partnership with the New Orleans Jazz Museum and the Philharmonie de Paris.<\/p>\n<p>She is a young Afro-French contrabassist, singer and composer with Caribbean and West African origins.\u00a0Now based in Paris, France, she studied with internationally acclaimed bassists Ron Carter and Lonnie Plaxico as well as saxophonist and conceptualist Steve Coleman.\u00a0She develops her own identity traveling the world, learning about different cultures (Cuba, USA, North Africa, Spain, Italy, West Indies, more).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the greek mythology,\u00a0<em>S\u00e9l\u00e9n\u00e9\u00a0<\/em>(daughter of the Titans Hyp\u00e9rion and Th\u00e9ia) represents the goddess of the full moon. Mesmerized by the beauty of this natural satellite of the Earth, Saint-Aim\u00e9 uses selenography (the study of the surface and physical features of the Moon) in her compositions.
