Prepare some pencils and a piece of paper if you would like to participate in the creative process.<\/p>\n<p>This event is organized as part of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.francophonie-dc.org\/\">2022 DC Francophonie Festival<\/a>\u00a0and is free. All registrants will receive a Zoom link a few days before the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the cartoonist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Julien Par\u00e9-Sorel is a comic book author, illustrator and VR artist based in Montr\u00e9al (Qu\u00e9bec, Canada). Julien has always told stories through his drawings, especially featuring characters from fantasy and sci-fi universes.<\/p>\n<p>After his bachelor\u2019s degree in Comic book Arts at UQO, he was published in various collectives and illustrated novels. He is the artist behind the serie \u00c9tienne and Charlot (Les D\u00e9brouillards), L\u00e9th\u00e9onie (Front Froid), inker for La Ligne rouge (Front Froid), Strip-O-nirik (Kaijulien \u00e9ditions) and the serie\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/julienparesorel.com\/bd\/\">Aventurosaure\u00a0<\/a>(Presse Aventure).<\/p>\n<p>For more than 15 years, he has been teaching comic workshops in schools and libraries throughout Canada and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Julien has been involved in the Front Froid initiative for a long time, an organization that publishes imaginary-themed comics in Qu\u00e9bec. In 2011 and 2014, he completed creative residencies in Mons (Belgium) and Lyon (France) respectively. Julien also attended numerous festivals such as Del\u00e9mont BD in Switzerland, Lyon BD Festival in France, the International Comics Festival of Alger in Algeria and a workshop at Tsukuba University in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>He has won several prizes in the last few years, including the B\u00e9d\u00e9is Causa for Best french comic book for youth in Canada, also the Dragon prize at the Joe Shuster Awards, for his album Aventurosaure 1: Le r\u00e9veil de Rex.<\/p>\n<p>He is currently working in his Montr\u00e9al studio with his faithful assistant, Abu the dog-monkey.
