Supported by epigenetic and psychosomatic research, the three performers trace an inner, abstract, and visual journey into the body, weaving a tapestry of memories. In&nbsp;<em>Fragmented Shadows<\/em>&nbsp;dance becomes a practice of healing and release, transforming the body into a site of liberation and creating a powerful visual and emotional landscape. An internationally renowned choreographer, Kamuyu has collaborated with other notable artists featured at the Wexner Center including Bill T. Jones and Julie Taymor, among others. (program approx. 55 mins.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Supported by <a href=\"https:\/\/albertinefoundation.org\/albertine-grants\/albertine-dance\/grantees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Albertine Dance<\/a>, a program of Villa Albertine &amp; Albertine Foundation<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>About the artist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a11y-toggle-5\">Wanjiru Kamuyu<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dancer and choreographer Wanjiru Kamuyu is an associate artist with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ccnnantes.fr\/fr\/pour-les-artistes-saison-2024-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Choreographic Center Nantes<\/a>\u00a0(France), a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newyorklivearts.org\/artists\/wanjiru-kamuyu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York Live Arts Live Feed artist<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/villa-albertine.org\/va\/residents\/wanjiru-kamuyu-dirk-korell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Villa Albertine 2023 artist in residence<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweatvariant.com\/asap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Artists Supporting Artists (ASAP) Sweat Variant artist<\/a>. Born in Kenya, Kamuyu moved to France in 2007 and began her career in New York City. She has worked with choreographers such as Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Bill T. Jones, and Okwui Okpokwasili, as well as director Julie Taymor (Broadway musical The Lion King), among others. As founder of the dance company\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/caminaktion.eu\/en\/wkcollective\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WKcollective<\/a>, Kamuyu\u2019s choreographic projects are presented internationally. She has collaborated with choreographers Bintou Demb\u00e9l\u00e9 and Robyn Orlin and theater directors Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Auguste, J\u00e9r\u00f4me Savary, and Hassane Kassi Kouyate.
