She will lead a variety of activities in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/french.emory.edu\/\">Emory University<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spelman.edu\/academics\/world-languages-and-cultures\/french\/index.html\">Spelman College<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/modlangs.gatech.edu\/languages\/french\">Georgia Tech<\/a>, and the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rom.uga.edu\/french-program-uga\"> University of Georgia in Athens<\/a>. The program includes workshops, public talks, classroom visits, and collective discussions on themes such as decolonization and socially engaged artistic creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A public reading at Spelman College on November 5<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eva Doumbia<\/strong> will give a public talk at <strong>Spelman <\/strong>College on the afternoon of November 5. On this occasion, she will direct a <strong>bilingual reading <\/strong>\u2014 in French and English \u2014 of her play Le Iench. The event will also feature a<strong> theatrical interlude <\/strong>in English, with an excerpt from Autophagies performed by a guest actress. Students from Spelman College and Emory University will attend the event, which will conclude with an <strong>open discussion <\/strong>with the audience around themes of theater, identity, and cultural transmission. &nbsp;<br>This event is open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHERE ?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rockefeller Arts Building<\/strong>, Baldwin Burroughs Theater, Latanya richardson Jackson and Samuel L. Jackson Performing Arts Center, <strong>440 Westview Drive SW<\/strong>, Atlanta<br>5:00 p.m. &#8211; 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guests are invited to enter the campus through the <strong>Public Safety entrance<\/strong> located at this address. Upon arrival, please check in with <strong>Spelman College Public Safety<\/strong>, who will provide directions to the nearest available parking areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>A Familiar Voice in the U.S.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">This is not Eva Doumbia\u2019s first time in the United States. In 2022, she undertook a residency in New Orleans with Villa Albertine to begin adapting <em>Autophagies<\/em> for American audiences. The following year, in 2023, she presented the U.S. premiere of the show at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinvisibledog.org\/\">the Invisible Dog Art Center<\/a> in New York, in a unique format blending theater, culinary performance, and documentary storytelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>An Invitation to Rethink the World<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">A writer, director, and founder of the theater company <em>La Part du Pauvre<\/em>, Eva Doumbia creates deeply engaged work at the crossroads of theater, personal narrative, and major postcolonial questions.
