The film explores the challenges of illness, old age, and the power of music in regaining hope.<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nocturno is produced by Ocean Heart Production, a film company that strives to tell stories that bring multicultural identities and artistic expressions to life.<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About the Filmmaker<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This film is directed by Isabel Rivero-Vil\u00e1, who will attend the screening.<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Isabel is a Professor of French at American University (Washington, DC) and an independent filmmaker. She was recently named Chevalier de l\u2019ordre des Palmes Acad\u00e9miques by the Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019\u00c9ducation Nationale in France for her work promoting the French language and Francophone cultures.<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A specialist in West African cinema, she holds a PhD in Francophone Cinema and Multimedia and a Master&#8217;s degree in Creative Documentary. Isabel Rivero-Vil\u00e1 has filmed and produced the web doc series \u201c5 mois \u00e0 Nantes, ville vivante\u201d and several short films and video interviews with artists, politicians, musicians, and educators in Senegal.<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her first feature documentary film &#8220;AFRYKAS et la bo\u00eete magique&#8221; (2022) filmed in Senegal, has received numerous awards internationally in festivals in Cannes, Paris, Venice, Amsterdam, London, Dallas, Toronto, Helsinki, and Berlin. It has also been nominated in festivals in San Diego, Cape Verte, Houston, Geneva, and Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She regularly collaborates with fellow filmmakers and organizes film festivals in Washington DC in collaboration with the French Embassy to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion through film.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Nocturno_Teaser\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/837183021?h=81a0548a16&amp;dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Ativio<\/em><\/h1>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gu\u00e9nol\u00e9, an 11-year-old boy, lives in a remote village called Agotim\u00e9 Adam\u00e9, three hours from Lom\u00e9 in Togo, West Africa. He has a strong musical sensitivity and dreams of playing the piano. Despite not having a piano, he manages to practice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About the Filmmaker<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Juliette Boucheny is an actor, screenwriter, and director, who divides her time between France and Togo. She studied Drama at the Ecole du Jeu in Paris, then learned screenwriting and production by working on various film series created by Groupe Elephant. Inspired by her grandmother, her first short film, <em>Perle,<\/em>&nbsp;tackles the subjects of femininity and desire in the last few days of a woman\u2019s life. This first project received a residency grant from CNC (National Centre of Cinematography). Her second film project <em>Ativio<\/em>, filmed in Togo, was awarded the \u2018Best Screenplay\u2019 award at the Festival C\u00f4t\u00e9 Court 2020 in Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"ATIVIO By JULIETTE BOUCHENY\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UwgYeiwr9RE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>Security Rules<\/strong><\/strong>: Each person attending the event must have a ticket registered in their name and a government-issued ID matching the name on the reservation in order to enter the Embassy.
