Filmmaker Veljko Vidak Brings Cinéma Laika to U.S. Audiences
“Cinéma Laika” by Veljko Vidak
In Cinéma Laika, the quiet town of Karkkila, deep in the Finnish forest, is transformed when renowned filmmaker Aki Kaurismäki revives its long-closed foundry by building the town’s first cinema, Kino Laika. As construction begins, the once peaceful town is filled with the sounds of noisy building work, sparking curiosity among the locals. The creation of this communal space becomes the center of attention, renewing the community’s hopes and reigniting their passion for cinema.
