Est-il possible d&rsquo;envisager son exploration sans alimenter la soif de conqu\u00eate ? La Villa Albertine, nouvel \u00e9tablissement culturel du minist\u00e8re des Affaires Etrang\u00e8res, lance en partenariat avec le Centre Pompidou, un nouveau programme qui traitera de ces probl\u00e9matiques en accueillant quatre cr\u00e9ateurs et chercheurs. <strong>L\u00e9a Bismuth<\/strong>, autrice et commissaire d\u2019exposition, <strong>Vanessa del Campo, <\/strong>r\u00e9alisatrice<strong> <\/strong>et ing\u00e9nieure a\u00e9rospatiale, <strong>Elizabeth Hong<\/strong>, artiste et designer, et <strong>Jean-Philippe Uzan, <\/strong>directeur de recherche au CNRS, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s pour conduire chacun un projet de r\u00e9sidence du 5 octobre au 5 novembre, \u00e0 Marfa, aux portes du d\u00e9sert texan.<\/p>\n\n<p>Toujours plus loin : Plus Ultra. Telle est la devise que Bacon donne comme programme \u00e0 la science moderne, en reprenant la devise de l\u2019empereur conqu\u00e9rant Charles Quint. Conqu\u00eate de l\u2019espace terrestre, conqu\u00eate de la nature, conqu\u00eate de l\u2019espace cosmique : encore aujourd\u2019hui, d\u00e9couvrir c\u2019est bien souvent conqu\u00e9rir, explorer c\u2019est s\u2019approprier l\u2019espace, les autres plan\u00e8tes, les ressources lointaines.\u00a0 La course aux programmes spatiaux et aux plan\u00e8tes habitables n\u2019y fait pas exception. L\u2019appropriation des territoires (et de leurs ressources) est en effet devenue un enjeu central au temps de l\u2019Anthropoc\u00e8ne. Notre conscience nouvelle des limites de la Terre invite-t-elle \u00e0 acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer encore la recherche d\u2019autres plan\u00e8tes \u00e0 conqu\u00e9rir, ou serait-elle au contraire l\u2019occasion de renouveler nos imaginaires de l\u2019espace ?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>Con\u00e7u avec <a href=\"https:\/\/frederiqueaittouati.com\/\">Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique A\u00eft-Touati<\/a>, historienne, chercheuse et metteuse en sc\u00e8ne, ce programme de r\u00e9sidence entend \u00e9tablir un dialogue entre sp\u00e9cialistes am\u00e9ricains et cr\u00e9ateurs originaires de France et d\u2019ailleurs, tout en permettant aux r\u00e9sidents de tirer profit de ces moments de r\u00e9flexion collective, d\u2019apprentissage et de recherches pour enrichir leurs projets individuels.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab Au moment o\u00f9 une poign\u00e9e de milliardaires essaient de nous entra\u00eener dans une course vers Mars, force est de constater que les prouesses technologiques qui se succ\u00e8dent s\u2019appuient sur un imaginaire de l\u2019espace qui est de plus en plus dat\u00e9, et de moins en moins acceptable. Peut-on aujourd\u2019hui l\u2019envisager autrement qu\u2019un territoire \u00e0 conqu\u00e9rir et coloniser ? Comment repenser l\u2019exploration spatiale \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re des enjeux \u00e9cologiques, sociaux et politiques qui s\u2019imposent aujourd\u2019hui dans notre compr\u00e9hension de la Terre? Cette r\u00e9sidence donne l\u2019occasion de prendre du recul et d\u2019imaginer une approche diff\u00e9rente des mondes qui nous entourent \u00bb explique <strong>Ga\u00ebtan Bruel, Directeur de la Villa Albertine<\/strong>. \u00ab Oasis artistique dans le d\u00e9sert et avant-poste mondial de l\u2019art contemporain, Marfa offre aussi un cadre id\u00e9al pour observer l\u2019espace depuis le d\u00e9sert. Nous sommes heureux d\u2019y inviter ces quatre artistes et chercheurs, pour mener chacun un projet singulier, mais aussi pour poser ensemble les bases d\u2019une nouvelle grammaire de l\u2019exploration spatiale. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n<p>L\u2019appel \u00e0 candidatures de la r\u00e9sidence de la Villa Albertine \u00e0 Marfa \u00e9tait ouvert \u00e0 tous les cr\u00e9ateurs fran\u00e7ais ou r\u00e9sidant en France. En 1871, alors enferm\u00e9 au Fort du Taureau, une prison au milieu des mers, il ne put participer \u00e0 l\u2019insurrection et r\u00e9digea un trait\u00e9 de cosmologie visionnaire. Ma r\u00e9sidence \u00e0 Marfa servira de base \u00e0 un travail litt\u00e9raire cosmopo\u00e9tique autour de l\u2019\u00e9tincelle d\u2019\u00e9mancipation n\u00e9e du nouveau rapport que nous entretenons avec le monde vivant. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Vanessa del Campo, Cin\u00e9aste et Ing\u00e9nieure en a\u00e9rospatiale<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0J\u2019aimerais explorer plus en profondeur notre rapport au cosmos et le changement de paradigme qu\u2019a repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 pour nous l\u2019exploration spatiale. Ce projet de recherche participe \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9laboration de Moon Diary (Le Journal intime de la Lune, N.d.T), un film-essai que je suis en train de r\u00e9aliser dans le cadre d\u2019une th\u00e8se de doctorat. Dans ce film, je m\u2019interroge \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re personne sur le sens de la naissance et de la maternit\u00e9, mis en perspective avec notre petitesse dans l\u2019Univers. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Elizabeth Hong, Designer \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Mon projet, <em>Sky Walk<\/em>, invite \u00e0 se promener ensemble parmi les \u00e9toiles, en suivant le fil d\u2019un r\u00e9cit de fiction qui fait dialoguer les enchev\u00eatrements complexes de l\u2019espace et de la colonisation. Quels sont nos futurs potentiels si l\u2019espace n\u2019est plus une fronti\u00e8re\u00a0? Quels souvenirs rec\u00e8le un endroit o\u00f9 nous ne sommes jamais all\u00e9s\u00a0? En tant que designer, je souhaite tirer parti du site de Marfa pour raconter et rendre vivants ces futurs potentiels en cours d\u2019\u00e9criture. Une fiction qui serait aussi une exp\u00e9rience spatiale \u00e0 vivre \u00e0 diff\u00e9rents moments de notre voyage.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Jean-Philippe Uzan, Directeur de recherche au CNRS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab\u202f<em>Dialogue sur deux humanit\u00e9s <\/em>part de deux constats sur la conqu\u00eate spatiale telle que nous la concevons aujourd\u2019hui.\u00a0D\u2019une part, le corps humain n\u2019est pas adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019espace. D\u2019autre part, l\u2019id\u00e9e m\u00eame de conqu\u00eate renvoie \u00e0 une relation particuli\u00e8re entre nature et culture. En partant d\u2019une base fictionnelle, j\u2019aimerais explorer l\u2019imaginaire d\u2019une hypoth\u00e8se anthropologique de s\u00e9paration de l\u2019humanit\u00e9 en deux esp\u00e8ces, et de l\u2019\u00e9volution de ces extraterrestres du futur. Laisser vagabonder notre imaginaire \u00e0 partir de cette hypoth\u00e8se, c\u2018est s\u2019interroger sur le socle m\u00eame de notre humanit\u00e9.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique A\u00eft-Touati, Metteuse en sc\u00e8ne et chercheuse au CNRS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique A\u00eft-Touati is a theatre director and a CNRS Research Fellow in Paris. Her interests include early modern literature, astronomy, and the sciences of the Earth, from the seventeenth through the twenty first centuries, including cartography and ecology\/environmentalism. She has published <em>Fictions of the Cosmos<\/em> (Chicago University Press, 2011, MLA Prize), <em>Contes de la Lune <\/em>(Gallimard, 2011), <em>Terra Forma<\/em> (MIT Press, 2022), <em>Le Cri de Ga\u00efa<\/em> and <em>Trilogie Terrestre <\/em>(with Bruno Latour). Before joining the CNRS, she was a Fellow at the University of Oxford (2007-2014). She is the current director of the Experimental Programme in Political Arts (SPEAP).
