Bien que ses pratiques artistiques les plus r\u00e9centes favorisent l&rsquo;utilisation du verre et de l&rsquo;aluminium, elle a \u00e9galement travaill\u00e9 avec le papier comme support.\u00a0Elle croit au pouvoir des mots et de l&rsquo;\u00e9criture. Dans un entretien avec\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mercisf.com\/2020\/10\/05\/cheryl-derricotte-villasf-roots-going-back-to-jefferson\/\">Merci SF<\/a>, elle a fait remarquer qu&rsquo;elle \u00ab vit sous la tyrannie du titre \u00bb, ce qui montre l&rsquo;attention qu&rsquo;elle porte au pouvoir de la communication et des messages d\u00e9livr\u00e9s \u00e0 travers son art.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Son hommage \u00e0 Harriet Tubman t\u00e9moigne directement de son int\u00e9r\u00eat pour l&rsquo;art politique et historique contemporain. Autrement dit, en tant que native de Washington DC, il n&rsquo;est pas surprenant que son art soit profond\u00e9ment enracin\u00e9 dans la conscience et les mouvements politiques. Une grande partie de son travail artistique, dont \u00ab\u00a0Freedom&rsquo;s\u00a0Threshold\u00a0\u00bb explore l&rsquo;histoire complexe de l&rsquo;un des ambassadeurs des Etats-Unis en France les plus connus, Thomas Jefferson.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Au c\u0153ur du mouvement Black Lives\u00a0Matter\u00a0en 2020, Cheryl Derricotte\u00a0a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de profiter au maximum de sa r\u00e9sidence \u00e0 la Villa San Francisco pour se concentrer sur son objectif de tendre vers la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 et la transparence. La plupart de ses \u0153uvres ont \u00e9t\u00e9 inspir\u00e9es par ses recherches historiques sur la politique et la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9ricaines, ainsi que la relation avec la France au XVIIIe si\u00e8cle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dans une interview, quand il lui a \u00e9t\u00e9 demand\u00e9 quel \u00e9tait son lien avec la France, elle a partag\u00e9 une anecdote remontant \u00e0 son enfance. Pendant cette p\u00e9riode, sa famille n&rsquo;avait pas beaucoup d&rsquo;argent. Un jour, sa m\u00e8re, qui \u00e9tait connue pour \u00eatre assez chanceuse, participa \u00e0 un concours radio pour gagner des billets d&rsquo;avion qui pourraient l&rsquo;amener n&rsquo;importe o\u00f9 dans le monde.
