Stretching between the two main centers of political power, the Capitol and the White House, the National Mall is flanked by national museums and memorials, cultural emblems of the city and the country. Having witnessed major social events, including the 1963 civil rights March on Washington when Martin Luther King, Jr., gave his famous \u201cI Have a Dream\u201d speech, the National Mall is at the crossroads of politics and culture. In 2016, Bunch founded the National Museum of African American History and Culture in recognition of the contribution of black Americans to the country\u2019s history.
