Serge Bromberg presents MÉLIÈS IN 3D DISCOVERIES, a collection of filmmaker George Méliès’ short silent masterpieces projected in stereoscopic 3D.

Everyone remembers the iconic image of George Méliès’ A Trip to the Moon (1902), with a rocket in the eye of the moon. Méliès, the inventor of trick films with special effects, color in cinema and even sound, destroyed the negatives of all his films in 1923. This program, MÉLIÈS IN 3D DISCOVERIES: THE AMERICAN NEGATIVES, showcases the unlikely discovery of surviving Méliès negatives at the Library of Congress, allowing viewers to experience rare or lost Méliès films for the first time. After a smashing world premiere in Telluride, this unique presentation returns to the TCM Classic Film Festival after four years of absence, including the premiere of stereoscopic 3D presentations of early Méliès masterpieces, shot in 1908, and more. How? Why? This is another mystery…

The 15th TCM Classic Film Festival will be held in the heart of Hollywood, from April 18 to 21, 2024.

The 2024 lineup has something for every film lover, from a 100-year-old silent film with live musical accompaniment, to a modern thriller presented in IMAX®, to world premiere restorations, and in-depth conversations with the stars and filmmakers who created these motion picture masterpieces.
