Street Arts Compagnie Galmae on Tour
The installation-performance C'est Pas Là, C'est Par Là (It's Not That Way, It's This Way), a meditation on spatial scale and the place of the individual in society by South Korean artist Juhyung Lee arrives in the United States between late August and mid-September, after having toured the world
C'est Pas Là, C'est Par Là is also a communal exercise in the process of reconstruction and deconstruction. A once empty space is now filled with threads, like a freshly woven spider web. One person approaches a stone on the floor and begins to wind a string, while another walks to the middle of the canvas and contemplates the unraveling tangle of strings. The spectators become actors, passing threads over and under each other. The space becomes a meeting place and a small community is formed.
This playful, political, and participatory work invites audiences to negotiate their relationships with space, place, and others in an environment designed specifically for each performance.
